The Alexander B. Cummings Model Science and Technology School was established in 2015 as a school focused on STEM education— Science, Technology, Engineering and Math. The school presently runs from the 7th to 11th grade and 12th grade will be added next year. Cummings Africa Foundation (CAF) is the sole funder of the School which has approximately 231 students.
The school has a functioning library, science lab and computer lab, and was recently expanded at a cost of USD $197,000. The financial support from CAF from January 2019 through August 2020 was approximately USD $155,000 for the school operations.
CAF is actively developing additional avenues of funding for the school to ensure it remains sustainable in the long term. At present, students only pay a small fee while CAF subsidizes the education of each student. The school presently has 21 personnel which includes 14 teachers.
